Return to NOVA SBE - 9th Edition started
The Associação Surf Social Wave, together with the Cascais City Council, started on April 26, 2021, the 9th Program Cascais Surf for Employability, with an opening session at NOVA SBE. In this edition, the program returns to the face-to-face regime, with classroom sessions and surf lessons in Carcavelos.
This edition receives 9 participants, all unemployed, from the district of Lisbon, 7 women and 2 men. For the first time, the program received more applications from women than men.
To welcome this new group, the City Councilor of Cascais, Frederico Nunes, Associate Dean of Nova SBE, Rita Cunha, and Marta Albuquerque of the Portugal Inovação Social initiative, Sara Moura in representation of Billabong Portugal. It was also present the team of Associação Surf Social Wave. António Pedro, lifedreamer and president of the association, who presented the program, objectives and expectations of what to expect in the next 5 weeks.
Participants have surf and yoga twice a week, individual and group coaching sessions, listen to inspirational speakers and also have sessions in five key areas (management and planning, finance, economics and management, marketing and communication, entrepreneurship and active search for job). These sessions are conducted by professors from Nova SBE, a specialist from Randstad and the talent promotion division of the Cascais City Council and also by reference professionals in their respective areas.
This program aims to develop skills for employability, it already has a 70% success rate in returning to the job market and 80 participants have already gone through it.
This edition of the Cascais Surf Program for Employability has the fundamental support of Câmara Municipal de Cascais, Nova SBE, Randstad, Way Beyond, Power X by IC, Sushi at Home, Federação Portuguesa de Surf, Billabong Portugal, CRQL – Lombos Praia, ASSW Surf Academy Surfrider Foundation Lisboa , Portugal Inovação Social, Portugal 2020 e Lisboa 2020.
